Before you even begin to think about building your website, which is actually a blog site, you have to first think about what you plan to promote.
What are you main interests- your passions. What topics are you most excited to share with the world? These are the keys to a successful blog site. If you choose a topic that you think others are interested in but you yourself have no knowledge or interest you will lose interest even before your readers do.
Yes, you should have basic writing skills. You do not need to be a master of the pen so to speak however, basic writing skills are necessary. You need to get your point across to your readers. If you feel you have no writing skills than perhaps a blog site is not for you. I am being honest here.
Test Your Skills
Here is a task: find a topic you enjoy, say a hobby. Write a 300-500 word article or story about this topic and read it back to yourself. Is it engaging? Do you learn something from it? Is it clear? If you answer yes then you have the skills. You are then ready to begin creating your blog site.
Investing Your Time-Not Money
As I have stated before, it costs nothing to create a blog site. If you have been told or read otherwise, it is a scam. The investment of time is more important than anything. At present, I have two sites up and a page I manage as well. It takes time. If you are willing to devote the time, the rewards will come to you. Having a blog site will not create instant revenue. This is where people become frustrated. They throw up a site and expect the money to come rolling in. It is not an automatic money making machine. Your time and effort are what will bring in the traffic.
Once you decide that this is what you want to pursue, then you are ready to take the next steps. There are steps one must take in order to guarantee a successful blog site. I took these steps myself and it has opened a whole new world of information and skills. If you can learn, you can earn. This is just the beginning. There is more to a successful blog site than anyone has ever shared with you. What I have just shared is the tip of the iceberg.
